The match between CPSC and Smithfield began amidst a heavy downpour, drenching the entire ground. Despite the wet conditions, CPSC started off well with the ball, creating several chances but unable to find a breakthrough. Eventually, we managed to claim our first wicket through a runout, shifting the momentum in our favor. Amit’s exceptional bowling also led to a wicket, while Vicky took a couple as well. However, Smithfield managed to reach a total of 209-4, surprising everyone as they were considered a weaker team. In all everyone was knowing that score can be chasable.. 1 thing I noticed today was so nice to see was a belief… Everyone was having a goal of winning and self belief ..
In the second half, CPSC started slowly and lost two quick wickets with Gaurav and Vivek departing cheaply. Vicky, Harry, and Amit were promoted in the batting order. Binod displayed some amazing shots but was eventually dismissed by a spectacular diving catch from the keeper. Binod and Vicky had a 43-run partnership, followed by a 60-run partnership between Harry and Vicky. Vicky retired after scoring 40, and soon after, Harry was also dismissed. Kumar sir was promoted in to bat but was given out lbw to a good ball. Vishal then partnered with the skipper, contributing 91 runs until he got out when the scores were tied. Vicky returned to the crease but was dismissed on the first ball. ( Vicky came back when skipper retired on 40) Thanks to Chirayu for allowing Vicky to bat again. CPSC finished the match in the 28th over, scoring 210 runs.
The highlights of the match were the impressive batting performances by Vicky, Vishal, Harry, and Binod. The fielding was satisfactory, but the team remains committed to improving it every day. Vicky, Amit, and Binod performed well in the bowling department.
The match served as a reminder to never underestimate the importance of scoring, as the umpire meticulously checked every ball and run during both innings.
